Simple Skin Care Tips for Seniors
Let’s be honest, having a radiant and younger looking skin is everyone’s dream including older adults. Thus, older adults tend to have a skin problem or disease due to aging. However, by following these simple skin care tips you can prevent this from happening and you can achieve healthy and glowing skin at any age.
Choose the right products for your skin.
Choosing the right products for your skin is very important. There are many skin care products in the market that are specially made for all skin types such as normal, dry, sensitive, oily or acne-prone skin. Be wise in choosing your skin care products and find what’s best for you. Unscented or fragrance-free facial cleanser is most common for people with dry and sensitive skin and skin care products with Dead Sea minerals are also known for relieving skin problems such as acne and psoriasis.
Don’t forget to moisturize your skin and wear sunscreen.
Gently put an ample amount of your chosen face moisturizer every day to keep your skin hydrated. Also, wearing sunscreen is a must during the daytime to protect your skin from harmful UV rays and other skin problems such as fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, etc. Moisturize your skin in the morning and before bedtime. Applying a facial sheet mask, mud mask, peel-off mask or cream mask at least twice a week is also a great idea to have radiant and glowing skin.
Make an effort to drink water all day long.
Proper hydration is a must for everyone, especially for older adults to achieve a younger looking skin. Drink at least 8 glasses of water every day to help aid skin ailments such as psoriasis, wrinkles, and eczema. And, instead of buying water bottles on groceries, invest in a BPA-Free reusable cup, tumbler or bottle that is good for your health and the environment.
Be mindful of your food intake.
Having a radiant, glowing and youthful skin is also connected with what you eat so, be mindful of your food intake. Improve your skin elasticity by eating fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants such as berries, broccoli, papaya, tomato, carrots, etc. Also, having a cup of green tea every day can help fight skin problems — it has an anti-aging ingredient that combats the signs of aging.
Also, you should perform at least 30 mins of workout daily to get rid of the toxins in your body and skin — walk in the park, do some yoga, play with your grandchildren or join a senior’s exercise group in your community.
